Embryonic and Proud

I attended Gabe Hakvaag’s going away party way up in Inwood on Sunday night and had a blast.  Gabe directed me in three stage productions – Psychopathia Sexualis, The Joy of Sketch, and, of course, Rebel Without a Niche.  Now Gabe is packing up the family and moving to Wellsboro, Pennsylvania.  It’s near Pennsylvania’s Grand Canyon.  They are renting a large house for less than it costs me to rent an apartment in Brooklyn.

Gabe asked me if I would not only visit, but perform in Wellsboro, and I am thrilled by the idea!  So much so, in fact, that I wrote him today and proposed an actual date, roughly a year from now.  I may perform in the theater there, but the other option is performing on the Hakvaag deck, for all the townspeople who wish to attend (a house concert!).  I have a tentative show in Roanoke, Virginia, the weekend before, and Pennsylvania could potentially be between Roanoke and Winnipeg.  Wow, sure sounds like Kurt is planning a tour, eh?  Well, I guess I sort of am.  And I guess I sort of need to have a new show to do that, because some of the big festivals I’ve already done both of my shows in.  Also I am a creative person and should challenge myself to do something new.  But, anyway, a potential tour is it’s embryonic state right now.

So where does that leave the movie I want to make?  Still want to make it. Could I tour and do a movie?  Would I have the super discipline and time management mastery to pull that off?  I believe I have issued myself a challenge.
